Colorado Backstage Spotlight Awards 2007

2007 may seem like a long time ago, but the impact of 2007 theatre continues to reverberate. Of course, there is more than one winner. The Colorado theatre community runs the gambit of polished professional Masters, to Community Theatres growing their wings, to knock out artists, to relatively new beginners and everything in between. Just as apples and oranges and tigers and monkeys can’t be compared, each must fly its own flag of standards. Small theatres with small budgets can’t be expected to compete against well-established theatres in sets, lights, and costumes. Gifted actors reaching for the stars shouldn’t feel out of competition against accomplished Masters.

In 2007, you knocked me out, made me think, tickled my imagination, made me laugh at loud, and yes, a few times left me wondering what it was you were doing and why. You turned me upside down with making hard-core decisions as I re-lived and re-thought through each production. I congratulate you. I bow to your artistic expertise as I stand in awe, amazement, and gratitude for who you are, why you are, and what you are. — Holly
